Error when typing e: in the Location bar on Open Image dialog

Select File > Open
Clicking any drive letter (C:, D:, or E:) generates no response and no files listed. Expected listing of image files and folders in root directory of drive.

Typing in a drive letter (e: or E:) in the Location bar returns the following:
Opening 'C:\Users\gatec\Desktop\e:' failed
Error opening file C:\Users\gatec\Desktop\e:: Input/output error

Typing in a drive letter plus backslash (e:\ or E:\) in the Location bar generates no response.

Typing in a drive letter plus backslash plus subdirectory (e:\ldsmith) in the Location bar works as intended.
