When my input is ibus Tamil(tamil99(m17n)), characters get overwrite on some situation

eg:
In firefox, I get,
வனக்கம்
But in gedit, I get
வக்ம்
the character ன overwritten by க் and character க overwritten by ம்

I see an underscore appears which indicates some kind of special mode is enabed, I'm not sure what purpose it serves. It may be interfering with ibus input

Anyone have any idea about this issue. I'm struggling with gnome now because of this issue
