GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 795731
Middle mouse button click to paste not working in account register input fields
Last modified: 2018-06-30 00:09:25 UTC
Having selected text in any application, including gnucash, clicking the middle mouse button to paste the text into an account register input field does not work. This is a regression and was working in 2.6.21. Arch Linux Kde Plasma 5.12.5
I managed to use the middle mouse button for pasting, but it works a bit unexpected: - open GnuCash, open an account register, klick into field "Description" The field is now ready for input. - go to a different window, highlight some text - explicitly copy the text into the clipboard (e.g. by using ctrl-c) - go back to the GnuCash Window - point the mouse anywhere in the window, but not above the field into which the text from the clipboard shall be pasted - click middle mouse button - text is inserted Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Is it the same with Arch Linux?
Yes, middle clicking anywhere in the gnucash window except the field you want to paste the text into, will paste the text into that field. If you click directly in the field, nothing happens. I must admit I would never have thought of doing that.
It's also annoying that you have to click in a field to activate it before you can do anything. For example, to select text in a field you cannot click and drag, you have to click in the field to activate it, release the mouse button and then click and drag to select. Similarly, you have to tripple click to select a word. The first click activates the field and the 2nd and 3rd clicks are taken as the double click.
Hopefully fixed in PR345.
Confirm this is working in git 3.1-171-g1e3a44500+ (2018-06-17)
