Description Stuart Bishop 2018-04-04 11:39:54 UTC
The login controls are only displayed on one display, which does not appear to be configurable. This makes logging in impossible when that display is not visible due to physical positioning or other reasons.

Ideally the screens should be mirrored by default, avoiding this and other issues (such as the assumption that the primary display is left of the secondary display). Alternatively, an option to configure this behavior.

create the configuration you want in the user session the copy monitors.xml over to gdm's ~/.config

Great workaround, thanks Ray.

I think the steps are then:

1. Configure your desktop the way you want.

2. sudo cp ~/.config/monitors.xml ~gdm/.config/

3. Edit ~gdm/.config/monitors.xml to make sure the monitor you want as primary is set as <primary>yes</primary>
