GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 793626
gnucash 2.7.4: either transaction number or split action requires 2.5.0
Last modified: 2018-06-30 00:04:44 UTC
When upgrading from gnucash 2.6.15, I'm unable to open my data file (sqlite3 format) in gnucash 2.7.4. Gnucash refused to open the file with the following error: User specifies source of 'num' field'; either transaction number or split action requires 2.5.0 I never had version 2.5.0 installed: $ genlop gnucash * app-office/gnucash Fri Apr 14 19:12:00 2017 >>> app-office/gnucash-2.6.15 Mon May 1 13:35:37 2017 >>> app-office/gnucash-2.6.15 Sat Aug 12 08:21:40 2017 >>> app-office/gnucash-2.6.15 Sun Dec 31 11:56:50 2017 >>> app-office/gnucash-2.6.15 Fri Feb 9 02:07:57 2018 >>> app-office/gnucash-2.7.4 Fri Feb 9 10:45:01 2018 >>> app-office/gnucash-2.6.15 Tue Feb 20 05:15:04 2018 >>> app-office/gnucash-2.7.4-r1 I already tried before on Feb 9, then reverted to my backup. I then upgraded to 2.6.19 which isn't marked stable in Gentoo. The file opens fine there. How to proceed? Gentoo marked 2.7.4 as stable due to security problems in 2.6 dependency to old unmaintained webkit libraries.
Thanks for taking the time to report this. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. Gentoo is wrong to mark pre-release software as stable. You should indeed be using 2.6.19 for normal work. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 792833 ***
