gnome-terminal-server crashed with signal 5
Last modified: 2018-01-25 18:24:24 UTC
Hello, Open bug in launchpad.net https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1745434 "I am trying to open in more than one gnome-terminal opportunity, with a Proposed update in parallel." BackTrace:
+ Trace 238368
Regards, -- Cristian
Hi, The trace revolves around the "copy-html" schema field. This is a new feature of gnome-terminal 3.26, not yet present in 3.24. Bionic has 3.24 at the moment, Bionic-proposed has 3.26. So I assume your system just received the new major version of gnome-terminal and the crash happened during this switch. Please close all gnome-terminal windows at once and then reopen (er, well, since it crashed for you, I assume you don't need to close) and let us know if the problem persists. I'm pretty sure this was an intermittent problem during upgrade, and I'm afraid there's not much we could do about this. I have many times successfully switched across major releases while gnome-terminal was still running and I haven't experienced any crash. Mind you, I don't think I've ever attempted to _start up_ another gnome-terminal while such an upgrade was in progress. I don't think any somewhat complex application (that consists of multiple files) can guarantee safe operation in this case, since the package isn't updated atomically.
This is the usual problem where the programme was upgraded but the glib compiled schema file wasn't recompiled. Not a g-t bug.
