GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 792617
Color picker in the Color dialog menu gets the color filtered by the display color profile
Last modified: 2018-01-18 00:15:14 UTC
I am using Fedora 25, with Gnome 3.22.2 If I pick the color in an image using the color picker in the Color dialog menu (when you want to change the front or background color) it is different from the real value (that you can get using the picker Crtl+Click) I had some trouble until I could see that the problem was here and that it was related to the color profile that was configured in Gnome, the picker is getting the value after being filtered by the display color profile. If I remove the color profile from Gnome, the picker gets the real value. Thanks, Fernando
Thanks for the report, you are right. However, color management in 2.8 is not really fixable in a sensible way, it has been completely reimplemented in the 2.9 development version. This can't and won't be fixed in 2.8, and works fine in 2.9, at least if the windowing system allows the application to get the used color profile. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 779942 ***
