I changed the permissions on my thumbnail directory under
/export/home/gnome3/.thumbnails to drw-r--r-- 

This caused nautilus to fail creating thumbnails, but it never stops trying
to create thumbnails:

** (nautilus:20875): WARNING **: error saving thumbnail
/export/home/gnome3/.thumbnails/f65.jpg.png

Basically a duplicate of bug 76338; have adjusted the title of that
bug to reflect this one.
