Description martin.wagner 2017-12-05 18:44:21 UTC
It seems that Evolution doesn't use a defined custom proxy to do address resolution and therefore is unable to connect to server that runs on a onion service, i.e. has an .onion address.

Thanks for a bug report. I thought it'll be simpler, but there are some obstacles and confusion, which I filled as bug #791334.

I think your 3.24 has it too, in Edit->Preferences->Network Preferences change the Method to detect online state to "Always Online", which will help as a workaround.

Just for the record, this is what I've been thinking of, but what doesn't work.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution-data-server/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
