GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 790956
GNOME Software leaves dependencies installed
Last modified: 2018-01-07 16:34:16 UTC
Description of problem: If you try to uninstall any application using GNOME Software, the application is correctly uninstalled, but all the dependencies, previously installed with the application and now unneeded, are being kept. This is a *major issue* for regular users, especially since GNOME Software does not report when installing a desktop environment or another big dependency with an application. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gnome-software-3.26 Ubuntu 17.10 Fedora 27 How reproducible: Every time. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run GNOME Software and find any application that you know needs additional dependencies installed. 2. See if any of the dependencies are not already installed (using CLI - dnf/apt/etc.). 3. Install the application. 4. Uninstall the application. 5. See if the dependencies are still installed (using CLI). Actual results: Application is removed, but all the unneeded dependencies are left installed. Expected results: Application is removed along with the unneeded dependencies.
