GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 790937
gnome-shell crashed with signal 5 in g_log_default_handler()
Last modified: 2021-07-05 13:52:55 UTC
Hello, Open bug in launchpad.net https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1732878 "gnome-shell crashed with signal 5 in g_log_default_handler()" BackTrace:
+ Trace 238197

> format=format@entry=0x7f3c825d1af0 "Connection to xwayland lost" XWayland went away, which currently is a fatal error for mutter. What exactly is going on will need further investigation, as the stacktrace only handles the mutter/gnome-shell side - whether we sent incorrect input that XWayland cannot handle, or whether the crash is a genuine bug in XWayland ideally needs the XWayland backtrace, or at least the relevant journal log. This is possibly NOTGNOME (as XWayland is a freedesktop project), but for now let's move this to mutter for further investigation.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
