Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, Evolution 3,18.5.2.

The message stored "on this computer" provening from a POP account are not indexed. If I check the "index message" box in the configuration menu, that does nothing, and after a new start of evolution, the box is unchecked.

Thanks for a bug report. As had been mentioned in your thread [1] in the evolution-list, the indexing in maildir had been disabled in the code, most likely due to bug #318808 and bug #576184, where the later mentions bug #671470.
