Description Hermann Stamm-Wilbrandt 2017-11-15 13:19:02 UTC
Android tutorial states:
"This is the same media player application used to advertise GStreamer
on Android, and the download link can be found in the Android tutorial
5: A Complete media player page."
https://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/documentation/tutorials/android/index.html

But tutorial 5 page states:
"FIXME: Do we want to provide a binary of the app?"
https://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/documentation/tutorials/android/a-complete-media-player.html

Anybody working with gstreamer would benefit from this Android gstreamer app for working with gstreamer, without having an Android app build
environment. Can the binary app be downloaded somewhere?

Just out of curiosity, what would you use that apk for without a GStreamer Android application development environment? It's more an example than a full-featured playback application.

I have been able to stream to laptops and even to (framebuffers connected to= microcontrollers with gstreamer witout issues, but have not found a way to stream to Android somehow. This application would give a very easy start for viewing gstreamer stream on smartphone anybody has today.

Since I use my smartphone as wireless AP and terminal for Raspberry Pi anyway (and setting up gstreamer pipeline for Raspberry camera), it would be very useful to see the stream on same smartphone:

Ok, it's not exactly easy because unpolished UI, etc, but it probably works :)

If you need a tester, I could try it on all 5 Android smartphones of my family.
