GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 788916
Localized "Fwd:"/"Re:" can't be disabled
Last modified: 2017-10-30 11:37:06 UTC
Hello, is there any way (from user settings) to disable disable localized "Re:" in subject? No one uses it in my language (czech), and it's confusing for users which I'm replying. Now it can be changed only by manual editation of localization files, which is probably not very intuitive. Thanks
Thanks for a bug report. There is no option for it, yet. It had been changed for bug #783968. I'll add the option and I'll turn it off by default, to not use localized "Re:".
Created commit c5ca2d356f in evo master (3.27.1+) I also asked for a string freeze break approval to be able to push this into 3.26. I'll update the bug with a commit reference if I get an approval.
I didn't receive an approval for inclusion of the above change in 3.26 (yet), thus I decided to unmark those two strings from translation. It should not have any bad effect on translators, from my point of view, because those whom did not translate it yet do not need to any more, and those whom did the change will not claim th translation as incomplete. I left the change for 3.28.0 as is, thus those users whom would like to use localized Fwd/Re can do it, if they use the option which is off by default. Created commit 35edd1b1b8 in evo gnome-3-26 (3.26.2+)
(In reply to Milan Crha from comment #2) > Created commit c5ca2d356f in evo master (3.27.1+) I changed my mind a bit, especially after finding bug #783968 comment #2, thus I decided to revert the UI part of the previous commit in the development version. Created commit 7ad73ba8ee in evo master (3.27.2+)
