GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 788816
Search current folder only
Last modified: 2020-07-09 21:49:34 UTC
If I search for unread mail, it gives me a list of unread mail across all folders. I'd like this behavior to be modifiable such that you can limit it to the current folder/label.
I would say this is a duplicate of bug #714496
Bug #714496 would certainly make this possible, as you suggested there using syntax like "in:this" or "in:selected", but I'm thinking we probably want to make this particular issue cover having a streamlined UI and experience for limiting search to the current folder, as Stephen mentions in the description here and as Robert was suggesting further up in Bug 714496: > I don't know if you've had much time to think about the UI in the folder case, > but I wonder if it'd be possible to keep the folder selected in the account > column when searching a single folder. Perhaps the icon could change to a > magnifying glass. Then when you clear the search field, the same conversation > would stay selected. > > Sometimes, I can't figure out how to find a message I'm looking for, but I can > find a chronologically nearby message. So being able to get to a specific time > with search and then look through all the messages in that folder would be > useful for me. So I've re-titled this a bit and made it depend on Bug 714496 as well to make that more clear.
