GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 787967
The UI is all in Spanish
Last modified: 2017-09-26 22:06:01 UTC
I am using GIMP and all of the menus and options are in Spanish. I don't know why. I know some Spanish, so I was able to click "GIMP", "Preferencias", and then "Interfaz". There was an option called "Idioma", which was set to "Idioma del sistema", which means "System language", which I'm guessing should be English because all of the other programs on my laptop show up in English. I looked through the options. I saw "English [en_CA]" and "English [en_GB]". I picked "English [en_CA]", and restarted GIMP, and everything is understandable, but I am filing this bug because it looks like something unusual is happening and something is not working right. Why does GIMP think my system language is Spanish? And isn't there supposed to be an "English [en_US]" option?
Hello, There was a fix for the default language which was wrong on MacOS in GIMP 2.8.20: https://www.gimp.org/news/2017/02/01/gimp-2-8-20-released/ This is probably your issue since I see you use 2.8.14. In any case, the current GIMP release is 2.8.22, so you should always update to the last version to make sure a bug has not been fixed. Get the current version at: https://www.gimp.org/downloads/ Then try again to set GIMP to System language, so that you can confirm that it shows GIMP in English as it should, please. :-) Thanks!
I updated to the latest version and set the language to System Language, and it works fine.
Cool let's close as duplicate of bug 770708 then! :-) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 770708 ***
