GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 786909
Touching on white space in Nautilus does a drag-like select
Last modified: 2017-09-03 00:04:37 UTC
Login in to a Wayland session Open Nautilus (3.24.2) *TOUCH* on some white space beneath the files Notice that you get a rubber-band select from the first item (top left) to where you touched. Touch on a file/folder in the top right, and touch white space somewhere beneath the files. Notice that the rubberband still starts at the top left. I think that users would expect the same functionality as when using with a mouse, i.e. the selected files would be deselected. I've attached a video to try and show this. Generally Nautilus with touch is a bit odd. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1697672/+attachment/4895159/+files/Screencast%20from%2013-06-17%2011%3A54%3A20.webm
The views with touch are not going to work properly anytime unfortunately... The only reasonable way to go is to work more on the GtkFlowBox view and try to make that one the default.
From the description and video, it looks a lot like bug 777357.
