GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 786411
Why does it think I can work in Swedish
Last modified: 2017-12-19 14:09:45 UTC
I work and speak in English but GIMP, after asking which language to install in, installs in Swedish which I can't handle. I notice that the download file has SE in it. There are now more people in the town I live that don't speak Swedish than do. Whi is the assumption made that because the hardware is in a place that it downloads to that place although it will be wrong most of the time (in my town at least) Sorry if this sounds grumpy but I've spent the last 90 minutes on this. Best regards /Melvyn Murphy
Your windows system's regional settings may be set to Swedish - and GIMP is set up to use the System language by default. The language selection in the installer is merely used for the language of the installation screens themselves. Unless you explicitly disabled them during the install, GIMP installs all available translations and picks the one matching your system language, if available. You can change the language in GIMP's preferences, or check if you can and want to set up your Windows system to make applications aware that you want them to run in English.
But we need to know more about your system's locale/language settings to figure out what's going on exactly.
