This string is from "gnome-shell.master.pt_BR.po":

#: js/ui/windowManager.js:84
msgid "Do you want to keep these display settings?"
msgstr "Você deseja manter essas configurações de exibição?"

Can you please test with English language as well?

wi-fi password dialog

same issue affects wi-fi password dialog on Arch, Gnome 3.26.2.
Comment 7 Strangiato 2018-03-16 21:39:32 UTC
Gnome 3.28 is affected.
Comment 8 Rafael Fontenelle 2018-03-16 22:58:10 UTC
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/commit/c4d2c0ee64f12b169e6eb25784a5f244c5ff5dac

I changed the translation for this string to workaround this issue of not fitting. So, instead of:

msgid "Do you want to keep these display settings?"
msgstr "Você deseja manter essas configurações de exibição?"

now you'll should get:

msgid "Do you want to keep these display settings?"
msgstr "Deseja manter essas configurações da tela?"

It will be available in 3.28.1, but you could test it right now by downloading the .po file from the Git repository and running (as root):

 # msgfmt -o /usr/share/locale/pt_BR/LC_MESSAGES/gnome-shell.mo /path/to/pt_BR.po

(/usr/ might be /usr/local/, depending on the distro)

I'm marking as resolved, but feel free to open it again.
