Description Jeremy Bicha 2017-08-14 13:12:39 UTC
I updated gdm from 3.25.4.1 to 3.25.90 in the GNOME3 Staging PPA for Ubuntu 17.10 Alpha. When I rebooted, I got auto-logged in to a GNOME Shell session running as the GNOME Display Manager user. And I was unable to get to the login screen.

I have seen reports that in other instances, users just got a blank screen.

There was only one code change in that ugdate, so I reverted https://git.gnome.org/browse/gdm/commit/?id=9bd3c5f04e in the PPA and it fixed the issues.

I have heard that a similar issue affected Arch's GNOME development packaging so I'm filing this bug since this might not be an Ubuntu-specific issue.
