GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 785650
Switch Paste Quotation and Paste as Text shortcuts
Last modified: 2017-10-03 15:53:21 UTC
Created attachment 356664 [details] [review] Patch All the applications bellow use Shift + Control + v as a shortcut for "Paste as Text" or "open Paste Special dialog box". - Thunderbird - Firefox, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keyboard-shortcuts-perform-firefox-tasks-quickly#w_editing - Chrome, https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/183101?hl=en-GB - LibreOffice Writer, https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Shortcut_Keys_for_Writer (*) - LibreOffice Impress - LibreOffice Calc Would be great if Evolution also have Shift+ Control + v as a shortcut for "Paste as Text". I know that this is duplicate of 776813 but I would like to discuss here the possibility to break backward compatibility. (*) "Paste as Text" shortcut is Ctrl + Alt + Shift + V.
Thanks for a bug report and patch. You are right, bug #776813 added the short cut for "Paste as Text". I think one of the rationale behind this was that Paste as Quotation is available always, while Paste as Text is available only for HTML messages. The short cut for LibreOffice feels like breaking my fingers (too complicated, from my point of view). I've nothing against switching the two in Evolution's composer. People using the short cut for paste quotation will be confused at the beginning for sure. Created commit 3c8915e in evo master (3.25.90+)
