GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 784925
The -- option is not a full replacement for the deprecated -e option (pre-opening different ssh sessions in tabs)
Last modified: 2021-06-11 16:37:31 UTC
When I use the -e option in gnome-terminal 3.24 on Fedora 26, I get this warning message: ===== Option “-e” is deprecated and might be removed in a later version of gnome-terminal. Use “-- ” to terminate the options and put the command line to execute after it. ===== The problem with this is that the "--" option won't work for a particular type of scenario: gnome-terminal --tab -e "ssh host1" --tab -e "ssh host2" I want to be able to pre-open multiple tabs with ssh sessions to a different host in each tab. Is it possible to still do this with non-deprecated options? If not, can this be fixed before deprecating the -e option?
I agree, let's keep some option for this scenario.
Can we have the deprecation warning message removed from gnome-terminal then? # Option “-e” is deprecated and might be removed in a later version of gnome-terminal. # Use “-- ” to terminate the options and put the command line to execute after it. # _g_io_module_get_default: Found default implementation gvfs (GDaemonVfs) for ‘gio-vfs’ # _g_io_module_get_default: Found default implementation dconf (DConfSettingsBackend) for ‘gsettings-backend’ # watch_fast: "/org/gnome/terminal/legacy/" (establishing: 0, active: 0) # unwatch_fast: "/org/gnome/terminal/legacy/" (active: 0, establishing: 1) # watch_established: "/org/gnome/terminal/legacy/" (establishing: 0)

No you cannot. For whatever reason when I hover over the Notifications "toggle" my mouse cursor changes to a circle with a line through it and I cannot toggle that on.
