Screenshot with both effects

On my system (Debiban 9 with GNOME 3 - right out of the box an GIMP 2.9 from git - commit 2296d08bad) there are some strange effects in the user interface.

- The background of the selected tool is light blue and has little contrast to the tool icon

- the text on inactive dropdown menus have basically the same color as the background of the widget.

This has been discussed at https://discuss.pixls.us/t/can-i-change-the-background-of-the-selected-tool-in-2-9/4549 and diagnosed with "The bundled theme seems to be missing some values which get inherited from the system theme."

Thank you for GIMP!

Rolf

Thanks for the report. We will try to factorize all the shipped themes to make debugging easier. So I'll add a dependency to bug 784781.
Comment 2 Michael Natterer 2017-07-18 17:21:34 UTC
We should rather replace the shipped themes. They are a mess of 70 kb
gtkrc files. I think drc is looking into something more reasonable.
Comment 3 Jehan 2017-07-18 18:49:38 UTC
Ok good to read. I actually started to do this factorization thing, but I am relieved if someone else takes care of this theme thing. Yeah we could as well just erase and restart from scratch indeed. That's all such a big headache.
