Description Jo 2017-07-04 08:47:26 UTC
Add an entry in Gimps help files to customize Gimp in depth

Extend gimp with plugins - customize hidden preferences
- Dark interfaces : https://www.gnome-look.org/browse/cat/190/
- Fonts : http://www.1001fonts.com/
- Plugins : http://registry.gimp.org/glossary/a
- Plugins: http://gimpfx-foundry.sourceforge.net/
- Brushpack for artists: https://code.google.com/archive/p/gps-gimp-paint-studio/
- gimprc-edits: (toolbox-wilber no), (trust-dirty-flag yes),
- Gtkrc-edits: small icons everywhere:
	#small theme
	GimpDockWindow::menu-preview-size = small-toolbar
	GimpToolPalette::tool-icon-size   = menu
	GimpDockbook::tab-icon-size       = menu
	GimpColorNotebook::tab-icon-size  = menu
	GimpEditor::button-icon-size      = menu

Adding random links to random 3rd party websites sounds like nothing for the help files but instead for some random wiki page.

random?

www.gnome ?
registry.gimp ?
gimpfx ?

gimp paint studio, same author who helped your team to updated also the default brush tips and more?

maybe 1001fonts is "random"

> random?

Your collection of random websites on random aspects is by definition random...

> www.gnome ?

There is no GNOME domain in your list, but some website named "gnome-look.org"

> registry.gimp ?
> gimpfx ?

I did not want to imply that some links in your list might not be valid additions.

> gimp paint studio, same author who helped your team

It is not "my team". Anyone can enter some characters in GNOME Bugzilla.
Comment 4 Michael Schumacher 2017-07-04 12:14:26 UTC
Most of the settings-related suggestions will be obsolete with 2.10. And for adding additional resources, we want to get actual improvements, not workarounds - i.e. the new plug-in registry.
Comment 5 Alexandre Prokoudine 2018-01-04 23:09:35 UTC
- gnome-look.org -- not controlled by us
- 1001fonts.com -- not controlled by us
- registry.gimp.org -- technically hosted by us, but isn't really maintained
- gimpfx-foundry.sourceforge.net -- not maintained (I'm former contributor with commit access), wasn't updated even for 2.8, afaik
- code.google.com* -- not controlled by us

3 out of 5 are not controlled by us and may go down at any time, and we won't be able to do anything about it.

2 out of 5 are technically controlled by us, but are not maintained.

I agree with everyone here. I say, let's just close as WONTFIX.

As Schumaml says in comment 4, I think most of these topics will be dealt with when we will have the new plug-in registry (I'll start working on it as soon as GIMP 2.10 is out! ;P) with good automated solutions, not crappy workarounds searching and downloading random files from the web or editing files by hand.
