From bug #266621 comment #8: > @mcrha: Would it be possible to get a screenshot attached to bug 783793? TIA Hmm, such thing would expose my private calendar events and tasks, or show it particularly empty. Not talking about mails.
Maybe open screenshot in gimp and use blur tool on calendar items? That is what most of us do when we want to show examples but need to obscure the private bits. ;-)
@mcrha: What is the difference of this "To Do bar" to the existing "Tasks" pane on the right (in LTR) in the calendar view? I still have no idea how it looks and what it can do and where exactly the setting ""Show To _Do Bar"" is available and what is a "main window" and what is a "sub-window" when looking at https://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution/commit/?id=f733f3a
Here is an example I posted previously in my bug report (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=266621): https://bug266621.bugzilla-attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=352523

@David: This task is about documenting *existing* functionality in Evolution. It is not about discussing potential features or designs in Evolution.
@Andre: You asked for a screenshot, I showed you one.
@David: I have not seen any screenshot from Evolution 3.25 in this task. This task is about documenting Evolution. Not other software. See comment 6.
@Andre: I understand that is is not evolution, I covered that in my original comments above. I offered this screenshot to give you an *idea* of what it will be in evolution as this was the requested feature. I am the original requester and this is what I asked for to be created in Evolution. You asked: (In reply to André Klapper from comment #3) > @mcrha: What is the difference of this "To Do bar" to the existing "Tasks" > pane on the right (in LTR) in the calendar view? I am answering that question by giving you an example of what exactly a "To Do bar" is. Seeing as how this feature was modeled after that software's "To Do bar" you should get a rough idea. :-)
I understand that. However I do not need a rough idea. I need proper user documentation based on existing actual code.

Those red under the 'Today' are overdue, see the little date/time before their name. > what it can do Show, add, edit and remove what is there. It has some context menu there as well. Which calendars/task lists are considered depends on those enabled in the Calendars view and the Tasks view. > where exactly the setting ""Show To _Do Bar"" is available Ha, I'd expect it's the most obvious thing. Menu View->Layout->Show To Do Bar. > what is a "main window" and what is a "sub-window" Okay, I see. The Main window (in my terminology) is the first window which had been opened when evolution was run. The sub-window is a window which had been opened after the main window, like with Menu File->New Window. Maybe this exact bit is not that important and you can safely skip it in the documentation. (In reply to David Dreggors from comment #10) > ...software's "To Do bar" you should get a rough idea. I agree with Andre that having a screen shot from another application, even the work had been inspired by it, doesn't give only rough idea, but can be misleading, because the correct look & feel is somewhat far from the Thunderbird's (I never planned to have 1:1 feature with Thunderbird). Remember, Andre is writing the documentation for the users, where the confusion should be avoided.
Thanks a lot Milan!! Note to myself: Looking at https://help.gnome.org/users/evolution/stable/ I don't have a good idea where this might fit. Yet. :-/ Should be covered in https://help.gnome.org/users/evolution/stable/intro-main-window.html with a new screenshot. Should get linked from https://help.gnome.org/users/evolution/stable/calendar-layout.html and https://help.gnome.org/users/evolution/stable/tasks-display-settings.html

Fair enough, I was not intending to muddy the waters, I was just trying to give a rough idea of what it is and what id does. The screenshot you posted is somewhat similar to the one I posted from Thunderbird. However I do see your points.
