The PDF file Ii was able to reproduce the problem with

While browsing the PDF file I've attached, with the preview sidebar open, if I scroll past page 17 (inclusive) in the document itself, not the preview sidebar (page 16 is the last one it shows in the preview sidebar when I open it) the sidebar's content disappears. I can make it reappear by scrolling on it, but it disappears again when I go past the last page in the preview sidebar again. Behaviour is pretty consistent.

May you try with a newer Evince? Perhaps a newer poppler as well.

I cannot reproduce the issue with master nor 3.24.0.

I have tested with 3.24 using Fedora 26 (updated as of now) in a virtual machine using VMware Player. WHile it's true that it doesn't happen when scrolling (when scrolling the previews go missing and the panel is refreshed instantly) the same effect can be achieved by resizing the window. Resize it and the previews go missing. It seems to be intermittent.

I have also managed to produce a similar issue while scrolling in the previews sidebar itself, randomly, after scrolling a good amount of pages.

I'm attaching two screenshots showing both sittuations.

I'm not sure if the previews sidebar is labelled "Previews" in english. In Portuguese it's "Miniaturas" which translates to "Miniatures".

This time it happened when resizing the window. This happens at random.

This one shows what happens when scrolling in the previews sidebar itself. It also happens at random.
