Both Apple Maps and Google Maps have the nifty little detail that they can quickly inform you if a place is currently open or closed, since the computer knows the current time.

Yes this is handy. But it will require some extra thought, I think, since it also needs to take into account the local time at the place you're viewing (as a side-note, this is actually easier when dealing with the transit stuff, since the GTFS feeds has timezone information in them :) )
