Description Dominique Leuenberger 2017-05-30 21:23:23 UTC
Originally reported downstream at https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1040685 by Moritz Rakow

## Overview

Nautilus deletes (does not show) underscores "_" and file extensions in the names of templates in the "New Document >" context menu. For example, a template in `~/Templates` with name "my_template.txt" will be displayed in the menu as "mytemplate".

## Steps to reproduce

1. Create the following files in `~/Templates`: "my_template", "mytemplate", "my_template.txt", and "mytemplate.txt".
2. Right-click in the Nautilus folder view, select "New Document >".

## Actual result

There will be four indistinguishable entries in the submenu, all labelled "mytemplate".

## Expected result

There will be four differently labelled entries.

Thanks for reporting this upstream.

The missing underscores issue is easy to fix, so I've filed it on GitLab for being fixed by newcomers: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/issues/995

About the missing filename extension, there is also a new issue on GitLab: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/issues/859

So, let's close this report here and proceed on GitLab.
