Gnome's Windows size

Hello
I can show you screenshots about this problem
I can tell you in Activities i have no wy to see the full name of an applicaion. I see only the first letters followed by points ...

In Nautilus, a terminal, or any other application i see a few of the Windows cotent. The tittlebar, tabs, etc take to much place on the screen.

I have tried Openbox which is better about that for example
But i am a a keyboard user, i run my applications with the keyboard
ie i press the Superkey, PID : Pidgin is running. That's all. It takes less time to do Something wih Gnome than searching in menus...
Conclusion : i love Gnome
Except for this low screen resolution problem.

xample : I can not use your Norton Commander clone : the Window use half the sceeen

My English is not fine (french speaking), i hope you understand something

Regards
Thnak you for looking at this

See bug 663725

To be fair, you are using an extremely old version - window decorations without custom widgets are significantly smaller nowadays (I'm afraid those decorations are relatively rare in core GNOME apps nowadays, so https://gnome.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/gimp-420x236.png was the only screenshot I could find off-hand).

In any case, decorations are defined by the GTK+ theme, so if you are still unhappy with the latest Adwaita theme, please file a separate bug there.

I will be okay with this
You saw the screenshots

I use Debian 8.6 alias Jessie and installed the package "Gnome 3.14 ?" from the stable version

I get the same problem with Debian Strech alias testing

What must i do ?

My resolution is 1366*758 on a 15 inches screen in a VMware Workstation window.
And what about the higher you saw in red on the sreenshots ?

GNOME 3.14 is two and a half years old by now (or five stable GNOME releases), and hasn't been supported upstream for two years.

If you think the default GTK theme adds too much whitespace, use a more compact one. gnome-shell has nothing to do with window contents, and recent versions pick up window decorations from the GTK theme.
