GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 78169
One letter gobbled up in the category field every time the Edit File types window is opened
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
I have the gnome 2.0 built on the 1st April from CVS. Not very sure whether this exists in the latest. But felt that this bug should be logged. Description: I found this bug while invoking the 'File Types and Programs' option from nautilus. One letter gets eaten away in the category field name, every time i open the 'Edit File Type' window. I'm describing the steps as i found it in nautilus (although this is observed in control-center too) Steps: 1) From the nautilus main window, choose View -> 'View as ...' 2) In the 'View as Other' menu, click on the 'Go There' button to open the 'Edit File type' window. 3) Select a category name by clicking on the 'Choose' button (E.g. Documents/Word Processor) 4) Click OK. 5) Reopen this window; View -> View as ... -> Go There 6) One letter is eaten away in the Category name (It shows ocuments/Word Processor) 7) This keeps happening each time one opens the window. 8) We also notice that a new category is created when clicked on the 'Choose' button.

I can't duplicate this at all. :/ Can you screenshot the exact location of the problem? Triaging up, as this is a fairly ugly problem if accurate.

Fairly major, as bug 78045 indicates that this may also block functionality. Jody, can you take a look at this?
I can replicate it with a current build under linux.
I've tracked this to a patch from Lauris on Mar 30 that purported to fix 'ghost rows'. My tree has some pending fixes, but I'll leave them out until Lauris explains what he was trying to solve.
patched
Verfied. Closing. Thanks.
