GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 779930
Add more options for specific mouses, such as Logitech, if supported
Last modified: 2017-03-12 22:40:29 UTC
Hi, So, I have a mouse, here a wireless Logitech. The control-center gives me the possibility to change the 2 following things: 1. Mouse speed; 2. Toggle natural scrolling. That's great, but rather limited. For example, as a wireless mouse, it has a battery, and it'd be nice to have a notification when its charge level is below a threshold. It'd be also nice to change its DPI value, Toggle side scrolling, and why not display the polling rate for some gamer mouses. None of this is possible without installing another application, here Solaar https://pwr.github.io/Solaar/index.html. Why do I need 2 programs to actually configure my mouse? I claim that gnome-control-center should support Logitech's Universal Receiver mouses, and offer more controls for them, perhaps hidden by default.

Look in the Power panel. > It'd be also nice to change its DPI value, Toggle side > scrolling, and why not display the polling rate for some gamer mouses. You want "piper": https://github.com/libratbag/piper > None of this is possible without installing another application, here Solaar > https://pwr.github.io/Solaar/index.html. > > Why do I need 2 programs to actually configure my mouse? > > I claim that gnome-control-center should support Logitech's Universal > Receiver mouses, and offer more controls for them, perhaps hidden by default. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=756574 (I'll also note that those last 2 paragraphs are incredibly rude. This might be a translation problem, but you might want to tone down the "claiming" when you're not paying a penny for the software) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 756574 ***
Hi Bastien, First, I didn't mean to be or sound rude at all. I present all my apologies. Please, forgive me. (Come to think of it, you're right, I haven't given to the Gnome foundation, but I happily will.) Thank you for making 756574 appear. Perhaps I should improve my google-fu skills, as I didn't find it prior to opening this report. My bad.
