Description Severo Raz 2017-01-25 15:29:26 UTC
Context: editing a tool preset tool settings, such as size, hardness, etc.

Trigger: pressing the "Save" button on the Tool Preset Editor while editing a given tool preset.

Expected outcome: the tool preset is updated to mirror the current tool settings after clicking the "Save" button.

Current outcome: the tool preset is not updated to mirror the current tool settings. It keeps the tool settings assigned upon tool preset creation.

I assume you are talking about default presets, aren't you?

In such a case, the problem is that default presets (as any kind of default assets) are not writable, which means you can't delete nor edit them. This is indeed a problem IMO, and should be dealt with.

Could you confirm this is your case?
If so, we can close as duplicate of bug 118742.
Comment 3 Severo Raz 2017-01-25 22:22:45 UTC
No, in this case I'm talking about user created tool presets. I will specify it in the title, thanks for noting that!
Comment 4 Jehan 2017-01-25 22:33:45 UTC
Hmmm… ok then it would be an actual bug. I can't reproduce it though.

When you click on the "Save tool preset" button, it should open a list of tool preset. In this list, the default ones will be grayed-out (i.e. not clickable/editable) but your custom ones should be clickable. When you click one of yours, it should open the "tool preset editor" as a dock. There you can click the "Save" button. Isn't it what you have?
Comment 5 Joao S. O. Bueno 2017-01-26 00:27:34 UTC
Yep - the U.I. for this is totally broken - once the preset is saved from the tool options button for the first time, all that is possible is to select whether it applies the settings (FG/BG, Brush, etc...) - i.e., only the checkboxes on the preset editor itself have an effect.

I had discussed this at lenght with José Américo Gobbo.

But I think bringing this to make something correct, is a separate issue than the overhauiling discussed on #768497. Even if on 2.8 it means only bringging up a notice telling "the saved values were not updated at all".
Comment 6 Michael Natterer 2017-02-06 02:05:11 UTC
Does this work fine in master? I tend to let 2.8 start rotting
when it comes to tool presets, they are broken beyond repair.
