New tab content repeated 4 times as tiled wallpaper

I have a dual monitor setup. My laptop has a HiDPI monitor (3200x1800) and I use an external 24" monitor (1920x1200). I'm running an up-to-date Archlinux, Gnome 3.22.2 (with Wayland) and Epiphany 3.22.4. When I open Epiphany, any tabs that were open in the previous session open normally. When I click the new tab button or press CTRL+T, the new tab content is repeated 4 times like the attached screenshot. If I navigate using the newly opened tab, all page visits are broken like that. If I close Epiphany completely and reopen it, all tabs are displayed correctly.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Epiphany on Wayland.
2. Open a new tab.

Actual:
1. The new tab content is displayed 4 times as if it's tiled (see screenshot).

Expected:
1. The new tab content should display once covering the full window size.

Additional Info:
This happens only the first time I connect the external monitor. If I disconnect and reconnect the monitor. Epiphany works fine.
