Description delete_my_account 2017-01-13 09:32:48 UTC
gdm 3.22, gnome-shell 3.22 on arch linux

I removed xorg-server (and xorg-xrdb) from my system, gdm starts gnome wayland session with no problems. xorg-server-xwayland still works fine.

x and classic sessions do not work but still available on login screen, they need to be disabled when xorg-server is unavailable.

p.s. I should mention that I'm using my custom packaged gdm version. arch linux package maintainers for gdm did not make xorg-server optional but as required dependency for gdm.
