GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 776518
Letters in block set cut off on the right edge
Last modified: 2018-05-24 17:17:07 UTC
Created attachment 342491 [details] GIMP file with block set text box problem When using block set in a text field of GIMP it can happen that a part of the letter on the right side is cut off partly. In my example (see attached files) there are even whole letters which are no longer visible. Changing the size of the text box doesn't solve the problem. Thanks in advance for a solution.
Hello, Thanks for reporting. This problem can also appear on master. I'm pretty sure we already had a bug report about the same problem, but I can't find it.
Hello! Would you tell us in which release this issue will be fixed? Or do you have a workaround for us? Thanks in advance!
(In reply to RapSuperStar3000 from comment #2) > Hello! Would you tell us in which release this issue will be fixed? This is a bug, so it should be fixed in whatever is the current stable release, i.e. in the next 2.8 if we can find a patch for it. Ok so I just had a closer look. For some reason, I could reproduce every time cut text when I opened your image or any new image after this, but not when opening a new image with default size. Seems that the problem lies in the resolution. Steps: - open an image with any size and resolution: X res: 306.071 Y res: 301.445 - Create a text layer with a set size (not auto-resizable). Result: ends of each line gets cut-off. So there must be a problem of approximation because of the resolution. I' going to investigate. > Or do you have a workaround for us? Thanks in advance! Yes, just change the resolution, for instance to 300 PPI for X and Y. Then just update your current text box (add a line and remove it, anything which forces a redraw) and it will fix your issue. :-)
Thanks for your fast reply and the workaround. The workaround works well for me. Simply changing the ppi, then the text and after that changing back the ppi helps to solve the problem in my case.
