GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 776215
schroedinger: Remove plugin, no upstream
Last modified: 2018-03-01 15:32:05 UTC
I'd propose to remove this plugin, at least from cerbero. There is no upstream anymore (literally: the only places for download you can find are distro mirrors!), nobody works on it since ages and I'm sure it's full of security relevant bugs. See also https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=845037 and the crash bugs here https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?repeatmerged=no&src=schroedinger .
ffmpeg also has a decoder (but only for VC2 AFAIK), if anybody really needs it.

+1 for removing it

Shall we also purge it from -bad then or do we want to keep it around?
Yes, remove it.
