I can't tell exactly what cases it happens in but I can reproduce it 100% of the time using the steps in the video. When I delete the bolded numbers and re-input them using the keyboard, it works.

This was on gnome-calculator 3.22.2 by the way. I just installed 3.23.2 and it's still happening.
