Description Asmacker 2016-12-06 16:54:38 UTC
Using the version 2.8.18 I try to use huge collection of patterns, which are above 1 GB in size. The result is, GIMP tries to load patterns directory (sometimes successfully), but after that, I notice crush in every single thing I want to do, for example, opening a new image.

Because of that I've checked GIMP memory use, which spikes slightly above 4 GB, what probably cannot be handled correctly by application. The quickest solution is implementing thumbnails for patterns directory, which will reduce memory usage. The longer way is trying to make GIMP using memory and pointers above 32-bit (I suppose), but it will be probably much more difficult to achieve right now.

Thank you for your attention and a great tool!
