Description Nate Graham 2016-11-28 22:39:36 UTC
I'd really like the ability to right-click on an open document's tab and click on a menu item named "open containing folder" or "show document location" "or "show in nautilus" or however it should be worded.

This is something I really miss having switched from macOS, where all document-based programs have a little proxy icon in the title bar that you can right-click to see the folder hierarchy, and open one of those folders in the file manager.

Fedora and all other Linux-based OSs lack the plumbing and infrastructure to make this happen. But the basic feature can be implemented in a case-by-case basis, and gedit is an ideal candidate given its status as a universal text document viewer.

In fact, gedit already displays the path to the containing folder in the titlebar/toolbar, right below the file name! If only that were clickable and you could somehow use it to open a file manager at that path...
