Created attachment 340948 [details] screen shot showing GIMP in mostly Burmese This occurred on macOS 10.12.1 (Sierra). The language and region are set to English and United States. The selected keyboard is US English. A Burmese keyboard/font (Myanmar - QWERTY) is installed but not selected as the current keyboard. Gimp comes up displaying most text in Burmese, including menus
See bug 770708. Did you get the most recent DMG file from https://www.gimp.org/downloads/ ?
Yes, version 2.8.18 for 64-bit x86 MacOS. I happened to have the DMG for 2.8.16 and tried it. Same thing happened with the fonts.
(In reply to mkhaw from comment #2) > Yes, version 2.8.18 for 64-bit x86 MacOS. Can you confirm you downloaded version gimp-2.8.18-x86_64-1.dmg (note the "-1" suffix), dated November 17, 2016 and not gimp-2.8.18-x86_64.dmg dated July 19? The November 17 release should fix exactly this problem.
I had the July 2016 version. Downloaded the November 2016 version and the problem is fixed. Sorry about the false alarm
