GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 774680
Nautilus automatically adds "untitled" to files created from Templates
Last modified: 2016-11-21 09:46:19 UTC
Created attachment 340254 [details] Image illustrating the issue, language is set to Norwegian Bokmål After saving for example a LibreOffice text document (.odt) with the name of MyTitle in the ~/Templates folder, any new file created from that template is named [untitled][MyTitle][.extension] This issue becomes even more confusing to users on localized versions where [untitled] is set after the extension, so you then have [Mytitle][.extension][untitled]. This can be seen by using for example Norwegian or Romanian language, or in the provided image illustrating the issue. This is a very confusing usability issue as the user expects to only set a new title of the file but instead have to both set a new title, remove the text "untitled", and be careful enough to not change the extension in the middle. In short: - Open LibreOffice Writer and make a new file. Save it with the name of MyTitle.odt in the ~/Templates folder. - Right mouseclick in a folder, select New document > MyTitle Result: A file with the name of either "untitled MyTitle.odt" or "MyTitle.odt untitled" (order depending on the language in use) is created. Expected result: A file with the name of simply "MyTitle.odt"
We fixed it long time ago, seems you are using an old version. https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=9d28b3263dbce896bf017438a0059a2da4e32f2c
