GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 773123
Nautilus is not giving 'Extract here' option on archived files (file-roller is installed).

Created attachment 337886 [details] Nautilus vs Thunar example Problem is only with .r00 .r01... .rN torrent-downloaded files (Thunar will show me 'Extract here' on these files without any problems). Preferences > Behavior > 'Extract the files on open' box is checked. Both Nautilus and File Roller are at the latest version (3.22.1-1). I'm on Arch Linux x86_64 kernel 4.7.6-1-ARCH using Xfce4.

I confirm the issue with rar archives.
This is since the 3.22 migration from using File Roller to using Nautilus directly for extraction. With unar installed (LGPL, and included in e.g. Fedora's main repos), RAR files are no longer extractable with a right-click, (regardless of if they are multi-part or not). This is a regression versus 3.20, where with unar installed, the File Roller-based extraction context menu item would appear. If it's possible to migrate extraction of RAR archives to Nautilus-native extraction then please do, otherwise please have Nautilus use (or try to use) File Roller when it can't handle the archive directly. This may apply to other archive formats that File Roller could handle but I haven't come across any yet.
Nautilus now uses the file-roller extension for RARs.
