Description Mohammed Sadiq 2016-09-27 02:18:06 UTC
Right now nicks in the channel are highlighted either as blue (when they are online) or grey (when offline) [I'm on dark them by the way, don't know the case of light theme].

It would be nice to have different color for away nicks. That is, when a nick is away using /away command of by changing nick to nick|afk or nick|away (or any other usual ones) the nick highlight may change to orange, or some other color, so that the users in the channel knows that the nick is away.

The bug 709987 says about the user list in the sidebar (which is shown once private chat is initiated) and about the user list shown by clicking the menu of user list (the top right menu which has user count as the label).

This bug is about the style of nick shown in a channel (which is shown in the left side when the user have said something in the channel).

The bug was filed about 2 years before we started to express the online status in the chat log, so it quite naturally did not mention it. So I'd rather take that as a generic "show away status somewhere" request than filing a dozen requests about different options - yes, we can show it in the chat log, or the user list, or the room list, or the new nick popover ...; by changing color, the user icon or including the away message ... If we filed individual bugs for every possible combination of any possible implementation of any possible feature, the bug number would explode to completely unmanageable numbers in no time.
