Description Asheesh Laroia 2016-09-21 23:10:35 UTC
Hi nice DNS maintainers,

Christian Hergert is interested in running a collaborative documents service for GNOME to use.

Some context:

- Sandstorm is a self-hostable web productivity suite that's open source software.

- Christian was interested in the fact that when users access collaborative documents within Sandstorm, they get a list of such documents. This is a feature boon above what Etherpad provides.

- Sandstorm (the company that creates this open source codebase, which I work for (disclosure!)) has some spare DigitalOcean credits that we can use toward this, for what it's worth.

- The Sandstorm software needs wildcard DNS, hence I'm requesting *.storm.gnome.org and storm.gnome.org. https://docs.sandstorm.io/en/latest/administering/wildcard/

Please create an A record that points to 45.55.65.83, which I plan to work with Christian to set up.

And let me know if there's any questions I can answer!

+1 from me after discussion with Asheesh.

Oh - also, in about nine months, our big bag of DigitalOcean credits will run out. At that point, it'll probably be smart to move the Sandstorm service to a VM infrastructure maintained by the GNOME sysadmins. I can work with Christian to coordinate a transition when the time comes for that, and will presumably work with GNOME sysadmins to make sure there's a place to host it.

All done. Please let us know when you will be about to start the migration from DigitalOcean to the GNOME Infrastructure. And thanks for providing a playground for the new service before we introduce it on our infrastructure.
