Description jebediah 2002-04-01 07:55:36 UTC
Package: gnome-core
Severity: minor
Version: 1.4.0.6
Synopsis: Panel Crash Upon App Launch
Bugzilla-Product: gnome-core
Bugzilla-Component: panel

Description:
The Gnome Panel crashes and quickly restarts when certain applications
are launched. For example,
[jebediah@Manger jebediah]$ xmame -nocu -cheat -jt 4 msh
will often (not always) crash the panel. Running plain xmame with no
options does it as well. Applications aside from xmame will crash the
panel as well. Abiword has done it, and I believe Mozilla or Star
Office did it as well.

Comment 1 Kjartan Maraas 2002-04-01 19:14:03 UTC
Please try gnome-core-1.4.0.6 and gnome-libs-1.4.1.4 and see if you
can reproduce it with these packages. You could use the packages
(RPMS) I made available at http://www.gnome.org/~kmaraas to rule out
any distro specific patches etc. Thanks a lot. (This is a blanket
message disregard gnome-core since I see you already have that :)
Comment 2 jebediah 2002-06-10 06:36:08 UTC
With Red Hat 7.3, and the follwing packages:
gnome-libs-1.4.1.6-1.ximian.1
gnome-libs-devel-1.4.1.6-1.ximian.1
gnome-core-1.4.0.8-1.ximian.2
gnome-core-devel-1.4.0.8-1.ximian.2
the problem is pretty much non existant. The panel has crashed once
or twice since then, but quickly reloads and remembers the prefs :)

Another in the 59500 family of bugs.
