Check the output on standard error (~/.xsession-errors probably)

Most likely you are choosing a font in the wrong encoding.

Granted, it sucks that you don't get an error dialog, and that
fonts in the wrong encoding were listed in the first place;
working on that.
Comment 2 Dennis Haney 2002-04-14 20:47:26 UTC
I've tried multiple encodings, so that is not the problem.
Comment 3 Havoc Pennington 2002-04-14 20:54:59 UTC
Did you check the stderr output? It should at least say "cannot load
font" or something. If not, try changing other settings and see if any
of them are working.
Comment 4 Dennis Haney 2002-04-14 21:12:45 UTC
no such error messages.
Comment 5 Havoc Pennington 2002-04-14 21:30:14 UTC
Other config options work then?

Do you have the latest CVS version?
Comment 6 Dennis Haney 2002-04-14 22:03:21 UTC
other function seem to work fine...
using garnome latest
Comment 7 Havoc Pennington 2002-04-24 03:42:55 UTC
Try 1.9.3?

This works fine for me.
Comment 8 Dennis Haney 2002-04-29 20:07:59 UTC
using 1.9.3: same problem. Any font change is accepted with a quick
flash, where I guess it was meant to actually change the font, but
nothing actually happens. It doesnt help if I logout and login again.
Attaching some screendumps.
Comment 9 Dennis Haney 2002-04-29 20:12:32 UTC
I'm to tired :( They got attached to bug 77134 instead :(
I'll leave it at that unless you protest.
Comment 10 John Fleck 2002-09-19 15:01:59 UTC
Dennis - Are you still seeing this problem with new version?
Comment 11 Dennis Haney 2002-09-22 20:28:57 UTC
I am going to wait till it shows up in debian to install a new version...
Comment 12 John Fleck 2003-06-10 12:59:58 UTC

Comment 13 Dennis Haney 2003-06-15 09:51:29 UTC
