GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 770015
Eyedropper / Color picker crashes application when used with font color
Last modified: 2017-08-12 19:14:01 UTC
1. Open GIMP, create new image (or open existing) 2. Select the text tool from toolbox 3. Select the TEXT colour box (either from toolbox or on the small window that appears next to your cursor, which includes other text options such as font size and type). 4. Select the Eyedropper (Color Picker) tool 5. Click somewhere. Anywhere. Application crashes.
This might be a duplicate of https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=740634 Do you use multiple monitors?
Yes, I have multiple monitors. I saw that issue, but there was no mention of font color. Only using the colour picker tool. The tool works fine for me (in the toolbox), it's only a problem with font colour. Therefore I wondered if this was a separate issue.
I don't think that they re-invented the wheel for every color picker we have in gimp. They most likely share a big part of the code. The behavior from the other bug depends on the location of the screen where you are trying to pick the color from. Did you test both color pickers on both screens? If not, you might just have been lucky while testing the first "normal" one.
Yea.. you're probably right. I've tried to Color picker on every screen, no issues. No crashes. Works fine. However trying the font colour picker on every screen, and it crashes on 2, but no my third screen. So it is related to multi-monitor. So probably is related to the other bug.
Thanks for taking the time to report this. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 759321 ***
This is continuing to be a problem. I have only one monitor and since I upgraded to the latest version of Gimp, I have had this same problem with Gimp crashing while trying to pick a color for a font. Is there a solution in the works, or has one been created already? If so, how do I access it? Thank you.
