For instance I was moving a folder today using Nautilus which told me it would take 5 minutes to move, and it did, the time to completion was actually very accurate, until it finished, at which point it suddenly jumped to this even though it had already succeed in moving the folder in the time it had promised. I see this happen reasonably often. I am running Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.20.

Here is a screenshot of what I mean: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/1612380/+attachment/4719276/+files/Crazy_Amount_Of_Hours_Shown_Upon_Finishing_Move_Nautilus.png

I initially reported this issue here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/1612380 But thought I should also do so upstream.

can you try with 3.22? I remember we somehow fixed this, but cannot find now the bug report or commit.

I can still reproduce the issue on 3.22, that's why I updated the version number in the report.

I think this is fixed in https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=27783cc8c234e533fb4ec4401efe3b41238220c7
