GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 769132
Blank/white background after changing GTK+ theme
Last modified: 2016-07-25 07:29:09 UTC
I have a reproducible bug. 1. Have the Adwaita GTK+ theme by default. 2. In gnome-tweak-tool, change GTK+ theme to "High Contrast" 3. Show the desktop, still OK. 4. Change the GTK+ theme back to Adwaita. -> The desktop background is all white/blank. A log-out/log-in doesn't bring back my background image. I need to reboot. I use the GNOME Classic session in Fedora 24.

I wasn't sure whether it's gnome-shell or nautilus which draws the background. But with: $ killall nautilus The background image reappears correctly.
Well, gnome-shell is drawing the background, but in the classic session nautilus overlays the desktop icons. This sounds like the desktop window loses its transparency on theme changes.
