GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 769049
window title is not repainted correctly
Last modified: 2016-08-10 09:44:25 UTC
Created attachment 331902 [details] Screenshot of the bug After updating metacity to 3.20.2 on Debian, I noticed that when the window title is changed, the old title is still drawn in white color below the new title. The attached screenshot demonstrates the problem (in that example, I changed directory in gnome-terminal which updates the title). The Metacity theme is the GTK+ provided one (Adwaita).
Can you reproduce it? And are you sure it did not happen with previous version? Looks very similar to this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/1538111/comments/46
Hmm, downgraded to 3.20.1.1 and the bug is still there (even after reboot). So I was wrong, this is not a regression. And I can reproduce it consistently.
It is regression, but not between 3.20.1.1 and 3.20.2... What exactly you are doing? I can not reproduce it... Also what video driver are you using?
I am not doing anything special. Just opening gnome-terminal is enough because the window title changes from "Terminal" to "dmitry@lenovo: ~" on startup. Before everything was working correctly. I tried to figure out which package updates caused that, but failed to do so. Another related thing I noticed: sometimes the letters in window title become transparent (instead of some dark color), i.e. I can see the other window contents through the letters. Starting to moving the window around is enough to trigger this behavior.
Installed debian in virtualbox, still can not reproduce... :( Please give some info about your video card and driver you use.
It is Intel: VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Atom Processor Z36xxx/Z37xxx Series Graphics & Display (rev 0e)
Oh, I forgot that you opened bug for this... Fixed in master, gnome-3-20 and gnome-3-18 branches.
